A fabulous team arranged the flowers for the St Augustine’s Church, St Augustine’s Church, Thorpe Bay Pentecost today.
‘Firefox’ roses, ‘flame coloured Calla’ and Gloriosa ‘flame lilies’ to depict Pentecost.
Amaranthus was chosen to signify the flaming tongues of fire and the everlasting, unfading life of the Holy Spirit and placed high.
Friendship and celebrations for the Patronal festival with “teapots” and a “cup and saucer” which will be taken to the hall for the celebratory lunch following the service.
Happy “Birthday” to all our friends in the church.
Our Thanks to Sylvia and The Thorpe Bay Flower Arranging Group
Revd Dave
Last Sunday we were joined by some of our bell ringers for Bell Sunday. As well as it being an opportunity to give thanks for their ringing each week, we were especially pleased to mark a very special mile-stone for two of their number. This year, Steve Halliwell and John Crooks celebrate 50 years in their roles as Tower Captain and Steeple Keeper respectively. A plaque was presented to Steve and John and corks were popped after the service to celebrate!
Congratulations to them both and a huge thank you to them and to all our ringers!
Do you enjoy singing?
Well why not come along and join us at 2pm on Wednesdays at the church and sing!
A wide and varied selection of songs to lift the spirits and fill you full of joy, all for small fee. Doesn't matter if you can't sing - your enthusiasm will make up for that.
Please contact Revd Dave on vicar@st-augustines.info or just pop into the church just before 2pm on Wednesdays and see what its all about for yourselves, you can be sure of a warm welcome and refreshments.
Following the resignation of our current Treasurer, Paul Dyer, we are seeking for a volunteer to take over that role as from the 1st January 2026. If anyone wishes to know more about what is involved, or volunteer, please speak to Rev Dave. Paul has very kindly agreed to continue until the year end to enable a smooth handover, and he is due a huge thank you for his work over the past few months.
At present the role covers the church accounts as well as the church hall, but it is hoped to separate the two for next year, and the role might also be split if need be.
