St Augustine's Church Hall (SS1 3HX)

The Church Hall is located on the corner of Johnstone Road and Parkanaur Ave, just two minutes walk from the church. The address is slightly different to the church, so enter SS1 3HX into your Satnav and you'll be there in no time!, if you're on foot, put your back to the main doors of the church and walk in a straight line for two minutes, the hall is on your left hand side.
The hall is available for hire for your local group to meet up, for that special birthday party, for that Salsa class you've always wanted to start, or for any activity that needs a large well maintained indoor space, with a stage, toilets and kitchen facilities.

The interior is bright and clean with good lighting for evening events. Stackable tables and chairs are available if required.
The hall measures approximately 15 metres (49 ft) long by 9 metres (29 ft) wide, giving a total area of 135 sq metres (1421 sq ft). The stage is 6.1 metres (20 ft) wide by 5.3 metres (17 ft) deep, although the stage narrows from the front towards the rear.
Stage Refurbishment - The stage, particularly the front area which protrudes into the main hall, was becoming badly worn and the potential for trips and falls was becoming serious. We have refurbished the surface completely, boarding with plywood and surfacing with a commercial vinyl. The stage floor now looks really good and is safe, however please be aware that the screens at the rear of the stage which used to swivel are now fixed in place. Please do not attempt to move them. Thank you.
Wedding Receptions: The hall is a great place to hold your wedding reception, please contact the hall manager (below) for more info.
The hall is also a very good place to hold your groups and meetings. One group that use the hall are the Safe Harbour Bereavement Group. The kitchen is ideal, well stocked and spacious and the hall is big enough to hold our yearly Strawberry Teas as well as meetings and speakers. See below some of our photos
PARKING
Please note that parking in Johnstone Road and some of the other local roads is restricted between 11am - 12am Monday to Friday. Southend Council civil enforcement officers check these roads at this time almost every day, so please take extra care when parking and make sure you don't get caught out. There are no parking restrictions around St Augustine's church itself which is only 50 metres away!

Meridian Martial Arts: Message from Annette de Florinier (who represents Meridian Martial Arts and whose classes are on Saturday mornings). see http://meridianthorpebay.com
I have recently received a portable defibrillator from a local charity called the Finish line Fund.
This means that wherever I teach a class the AED will be on-site too. This is a vital piece of first aid equipment, which can be life saving should an emergency situation occur. Myself and all of my
coaches are first aid trained and have been trained to use this equipment.
Please Note:
Please find below a link to a letter from Cadent who at some point will need to change the gas pipes and will need access to the building and to turn off the supply. They are at present unable to confirm when this will be - the window is from the 1st January to 11th April 2024!
I have asked them for more details and if we can firm a date so that any groups who need to cancel or work without heating and hot water for the duration of the work will be prepared. I think
this may be a very short notice cancellation but I will try to get the best information I can.
I will let you know if and when I hear from them again.
