What's involved in running a church?

Running a church is not dissimilar to running many other organisations.  Notwithstanding the Pastoral work undertaken, there are all the practical aspects associated with running a church; there are plans to be made, meetings where decisions are taken, committees to make those decisions, budgets to manage, buildings to maintain, newsletters and magazines to print, etc etc etc.

Much of the work undertaken at St Augustine's is carried out by volunteers, who work under the guidance of the Vicar and the PCC.  If things are a bit of a mystery, click through the links on the left hand side of the page to find out more about how the church is run.

It's Easy to Support Us:

Financial Support:

  • The church is signed up to the GivingMachine system, whereby for no cost to yourself internet shops pass on their 2 - 3% commission to nominated charities.  See http://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/ for details.
  •

  • In addition, those who are considering how best to benefit the church in their will will find this site helpful: http://www.churchlegacy.org.uk/.
  •

  • Those who would like to make a donation to the church are warmly encouraged to do so. Please click on the form below to download a copy of our pledge form.

Other ways of helping:

We don't just need financial support (although without it of course it becomes more difficult to flourish and grow), we need help and support to create a sense of community within our community.

If you can help in any way, perhaps by putting your name down for the refreshments roster, can you help to take away the grass cuttings, or would you like to help out with one of the Groups (Scouts, Guides etc ) .......... anything you can do will make a difference and will be very gratefully received. Thank you.

Where to find us

The church itself is on an island site at the junction of Johnstone Road and St Augustine’s Avenue.
