Running a church is not dissimilar to running many other organisations. Notwithstanding the Pastoral work undertaken, there are all the practical aspects associated with running a church; there are plans to be made, meetings where decisions are taken, committees to make those decisions, budgets to manage, buildings to maintain, newsletters and magazines to print, etc etc etc.
Much of the work undertaken at St Augustine's is carried out by volunteers, who work under the guidance of the Vicar and the PCC. If things are a bit of a mystery click through the links on the left hand side of the page to find out more about how the church is run.

It's Easy to Support Us
Other ways of helping
We don't just need financial support (although without it of course it becomes more difficult to flourish and grow), we need help and support to create a sense of community within our community.
If you can help in any way, anything you can do will make a difference and will be very gratefully received. Thank you.
We are located in the middle of Thorpe Bay, about two miles east of Southend on Sea and just a short walk from the sea front. We are easily accessible by train (Thorpe Bay station is on the main line from London Fenchurch Street) and bus (Nos 1, 7 and 9), and there is ample on-street parking around the church. The church itself is on an island site at the junction of Johnstone Road and St Augustine’s Avenue.
Our address is:
